The events of the past week – like all October – dominated information from the Gaza Strip. I'll start my Press Review on that, too.
Israeli army with advancement in the northern Gaza Strip
IDF slowly, but consistently takes the next positions of the northern part of Gaza. The Israeli army has already managed to cut through Saladin's key road and cut off Gaza (town) from the remainder of the Gaza Strip.
IDF announced Monday morning that Israeli troops would enter Gaza (city) within the next 48 hours. Then we can anticipate more fierce fighting. So far, IDF has operated mainly in open ground, distant from urban development. Now the fighting will decision into a heavy urbanised and densely populated area, which, given the full network of tunnels under the Gaza Strip, will be a considerable challenge for the IDF.
