At midnight, the election silence began. It will last until the end of the vote in the second circular of presidential elections, which is Sunday at 21. During this time, it is prohibited to print polls, agitate for candidates. The ban besides applies online. A fine of up to PLN 1 million for breaking it.

Presidential elections will start on Sunday at 7. If no of the regional electoral commissions extend the vote, the election silence will end at 9 p.m. On the air of Polsat, Polsat News and on polsatnews.pl we will present the first poll results of the election.

Voting may be extended as a consequence of extraordinary events that hinder or paralyze the work of the committee, specified as floods, flooding of electoral premises, construction or communication disasters or the request to print ballot cards.

Presidential election 2025. Second round. Electoral silence has begun

In the silence of elections, it is mandatory a complete ban on political agitation. The aim is to give voters time to make decisions without the force and influence of political campaigns.

During this time, i.e. until g. 21 on Sunday, any action promoting candidates, specified as:

  • organising rallies,
  • distribution of leaflets,
  • publishing polls,
  • conducting agitation in the media and the Internet.

Electoral agitation may take different forms - not only direct call for a vote, but besides insignificant gestures specified as exposing electoral symbols. Public speaking, if agitative, may be considered a violation.

Any action aimed at encouraging a circumstantial candidate, both in public and online, is simply a breach of election silence. A fine is being fined., up to 5 000 PLN.

Election 2025. Electoral silence to the end of the vote

It is besides a violation of silence to print poll results. This applies to both conventional media and the internet, including private Facebook and Twitter entries and surveys.

A fine from PLN 500,000 to even PLN 1,000,000 is threatened for making the survey available. These rules aim to prevent public manipulation in fresh hours before the vote.

Presidential election. Electoral silence in social media

Comments, posts or even reactions to entries concerning candidates can be considered agitation.

Avoid:

  • publishing posts supporting candidates,
  • making electoral content available,
  • Like or comment on political entries.

In 2020, there were cases where social media users were fined for interacting with electoral content.


Electoral silence breach at the polling station or its surroundings may consequence not only in fines, but besides in police intervention and removal from the premises.

Not permitted, among others:

  • wearing clothes or pin with the names of candidates,
  • loud talks about elections,
  • distribution of leaflets or another material to advance candidates.

Members of the electoral committees shall be obliged to pay attention to specified infringements and to take appropriate action.

Violation of election silence. Consequences for public individuals

Violation of electoral silence by public individuals and candidates may consequence in financial penalties, as well as a serious image crisis and legal consequences.

Even a insignificant infringement can affect the public's acceptance of the candidate and undermine its credibility.
