The Prime Minister thanked the soldiers and civilian services for their swift and effective action. “The situation seems to be under control,” he added.
This morning, the Operations Command of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland reported that Polish airspace had breached respective “unidentified objects”. The military immediately took action. Air defence shot down drones that were considered a possible threat.
– We have faced provocation on an unprecedented scale to date," said Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who called an extraordinary gathering of the government today. “For the first time, Russian drones have been shot down over NATO, and that is why all our allies take this situation very seriously,” added Tusk. He informed that Poland is in constant contact with allies and consults on developments and responses. – We are in contact with the Secretary-General of NATO so that for the next fewer hours, days and beyond besides effective as tonight to act in the event of specified a threat – he explained.
At the same time the Prime Minister assured that Polish "procedures worked, the decision-making process was flawless". "The threat was defined by the firm attitude of our soldiers, pilots, commanders and allies," he stressed. Tusk addressed General Wiesław Kukuła, head of the General Staff of the HR, asking for thanks to the soldiers. He besides praised the efficient activities of civilian services liable for interior security.
The Prime Minister stressed that today's events are evidence of the request to invest in defence and to make emergency procedures. He assured that politicians should talk with 1 voice on safety issues. He reported that he was constantly talking about the current situation with the head of the armed forces. Tusk besides announced that he and president Charles Nawrocki would agree on the content of political statements. He appealed to Poles to draw cognition of the safety condition only from proven sources, i.e. from authoritative military messages. “We must be prepared for Russian propaganda and disinformation,” he explained.
