Pragmatism Over Emotion: South Korea's Stance on Ukraine

Ukraine has never been a leading economical partner for South Korea. Geopolitical conditions in east Europe have only marginally drawn Seoul’s attention toward Kyiv. Relations with Russia took clear precedence over those with Ukraine, both in terms of trade volume and direct investment, and from a geopolitical standpoint, Russia’s access to the Pacific has been a origin in regional safety for decades.
