Patriotic-Robot Unity "Grunwald"
As all year, lying anti-Polish media and politicians feed us a fairy tale about "the emergence of Poznań 1956", which is expected to be a reason for "the pride" for Poznanians allowing them to enter into a tradition of fighting against socialism, and more broadly into anti-Russian tradition. According to propaganda films perpetuated by pop(anti)culture, media and politicians' message - "the socialist strategy imposed by Moscow was to choke economical improvement and lead to destitution by which starving workers raised spontaneous revolt against the socialist government imposed by the russian occupier". As evidence of this narrative, a photograph taken by German reporters is presented by young people carrying the banner "We request bread".
How was it in reality?
BUNT v. economical CURRENCY:
The period 1951-1956, which corresponds to the implementation of the 6th economical improvement Plan, is the time of the biggest civilization leap in Poland's history. After the reconstruction period and reaching pre-war production levels as early as the late 1940s, further improvement required major investments in the construction of fresh production capacities. It was thanks to these investments, thanks to the large effort of the full nation, which was based on its own strength, and not waiting for grace from the more prosperous ones, that the fastest increase in manufacturing forces in Poland's past was achieved. The average increase in industrial production, but besides the increase in purchasing power of earnings, was greater than in modern capitalist Poland and even more than in pre-war Poland. Life expectancy increased dramatically, meat consumption was nearly twice as advanced as before the war. Under the 1952 Constitution, unemployment was banned, which in pre-war Poland was a plague affecting millions.
The basis of the protests was not a breakdown or even economical stagnation. On the contrary, immense economical advancement has sparked even greater wage expectations. advancement was based on saving and sacrificing the current comfort for future development. specified a strategy, however, collided with the misunderstanding of those for whom the main motivation for work was earnings and the main legitimacy of socialism the promise of a fast improvement of the life rate "on already", without worrying about the consequences for future generations.
GERMANY
It is not insignificant that before planet War I Poznań was under German rule. He liberated himself from German regulation as a consequence of the winning Wielkopolska Uprising (in German historiography referred to as "the Poznań Uprising"), topped by the Treaty in Versailles on 28 June 1919. It is not by chance that respective twelve banners for the "spontaneous demonstration" were waiting for its participants on the way. It is not by chance that 1 of the main leaders was the German resident in Poznań - Ginter - who threw himself with a bar or board against the militia. It is not by chance that celebrated photographs were taken by Western German journalists that they photographed the crowd gathering against the background of the Imperial Castle - erected at the command of Emperor Wilhelm II Hohenzoller the symbol of the German regulation of Poznań, which during the Nazi business was the seat of politician of the Land of Warta Arthur Greiser. It is not by chance that the German press describing events which she called "the Poznań Uprising" (intended to erase the memory of the humiliating Wielkopolska Uprising for Germany), wrote about work in Germany for workers from Poznań. Nor is it that the demonstrators obtained weapons, nor that the riots occurred on the 37th anniversary of the Treaty of Versailles. The message was to be clear - "Polish governments led erstwhile German lands to the ruins and Poznańians have had adequate Poland on these lands". The political content of the riots in Poznań was not only directed against the socialist system, but besides straight against Poland. By the way, Germany has achieved its nonsubjective in part after years. Thanks to the neoliberal transformation, the Poznań Cegielski plant was destroyed and the remains of the Szkopski Volkswagen took over.

Strike and manifestation in Poznań, were NOT a manifestation of "working ethos", "patriotism" or "herohood of workers" - they were a manifestation of something precisely opposite, a manifestation of moral and intellectual smallness, a manifestation of cowardice, hedonism, irresponsibility and a deficiency of essential to keep as a class reigning state instinct. This is not a heroic date for Poznań and the Polish working class - it is simply a day of defeat, shame and shame that should motivate us to avoid mistakes of the past alternatively than glorify them.
The mistake of the ruling squad at the time was the deficiency of adequate political and educational work among the working class and insufficient emphasis on moral motivations of the work. The modern left makes the same mistake of economicism flattering hedonism. In addition, he falls into cosmopolitanism disdaining patriotism and seeing only the Kuglar trick of bourgeoisie in order to keep class rule, alternatively than the origin of the strength and stableness of the socialist state. They glorify the 1956 events as a "working class tear," a "right conflict for labour interests", raising the mistakes that led to the fall of socialism, to its highest virtue. Without patriotism, without maturity and responsibility, without state instinct, the working class will not be able to keep its working state in the long term. This is simply a lesson from the tragic defeat of the Poznań provocation. A lesson we can't let forget or change. (Arek Domeradzki)
