Warsaw Uprising: "August 13, 44" [PHILM DOCUMENTAL]

80 years ago the Warsaw Uprising began. Poles went to an open fight with Germany. The dispute over the legitimacy of this decision began before the uprising. This dispute will proceed with large emotion. However, whether it was the right decision or the incorrect one, the uprising broke out and lasted for 2 months. The Germans committed savage murders on insurgents and civilians. Warsaw paid a terrible price. About 200,000 people died and the city turned into a rubble. This is 1 of the scenes of this drama.

On 13 August, Sunday, the Old Town cheered: “We have a tank! We got the tank.” The soldiers of the “Gustaw” battalion entered Podwale Street captured by them a German vehicle SdKfz 301 Ausf. C Schwere Ladungsträger B-IV (a dense carrier of explosive loads “Borgward”). The transporter carried 500 kilograms of explosive in a container mounted on the armor. The vehicle exploded on Kilińskiego Street, killing about 300-350 people: insurgents and civilians who converged to admire the captured "tank". Their witnesses in the drama documentary “August 13’44” talk about these events.
