IRS inbound: 309,000 accounts on Allegro, OLX, Vinted, Booking... and OnlyFans!
The taxation office is busy – it examines the sale of goods, rent of apartments, individual services and transport. In another words: check that your “hobby business” is not a real business activity. By September, the fiscus had detected irregularities over PLN 36 million.
But the real hit is control OnlyFans. The portal that allows creators to sale paid content only to subscribers yet attracted the attention of officials. And that's where the interesting communicative begins...
One gentleman and his partner recorded pornographic films and sold them on OnlyFans. They tried to convince the IRS that they didn't deserve taxes because:
• page is not mostly available – you gotta get a small tired to find it
• Their shows are in conflict with the principles of social coexistence, so they should not be taxed.
He explained that prostitution is contrary to the principles of social coexistence and the state cannot collect taxes from it,
Regular revenues from OnlyFans are treated as economical activity: you gotta register, pay taxes (flat 8,5–12.5%) and VAT if the yearly income exceeds PLN 200 thousand.
Fortunately for courageous artists – if they study backlogs voluntarily (so-called active regret), they can avoid penalties.
The Moral of History: If you're planning a career on OnlyFans, remember – you want a part of cake too.
