We are happy, we will practice, train, rise skills – said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz after talking to the head of the Estonian Defence Ministry Hanno Pevkurem. The gathering was accompanied by the signing of the PGZ-et contract with Estonian Frankenburg Technologies. Thanks to it, a mill will be built in Poland, which will produce as many as 10,000 rockets to combat drones annually.
– We confirmed commitments between Poland and Estonia. Poland will fulfil all obligations under the North Atlantic Treaty, in peculiar Article 5 – said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defence in Warsaw after gathering with his Estonian counterpart Hanna Pevkur. The Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that this is very crucial in the face of threats from, among others, the Russian Federation and Belarus.
According to the head of the Polish MON, the talks included the war in Ukraine and the global situation, including the mediate East, cooperation within the NATO and east flank of the Alliance, as well as further improvement of military cooperation between Poland and Estonia, including joint exercises and training.
– We have been invited to practice in Estonia, which we accept. We besides want to sign a safety cooperation agreement soon," said Kosiniak-Kamysz. As he explained, the last specified agreement dates back respective years, and at the time much changed in Europe. The Deputy Prime Minister added that Estonia besides accepted an invitation to participate in Brave Husar's planned exercises this year.
The head of the Estonian Defence Ministry besides spoke about the request to strengthen cooperation with Poland within NATO. – If we do not act in unity, unfortunately we will lose a lot. This is about defending our values, freedom of expression, freedom of trade, freedom of movement, economical freedom," Pevkur noted. PGZ will build a fresh factory
The gathering of the heads of defence departments was accompanied by the signing of a framework agreement between Polish Armed Forces Group and Estonian company Frankenburg Technologies. The cooperation will cover the improvement of very short-range air defence systems, including the plan and production of rockets intended to combat drones (MARK I). The partnership plans to launch the production capacity of these systems in Poland.
The agreement is besides intended to supply the basis for further solutions specified as MARK II, which is to offer greater scope and strengthen the air defence system. As the Polish Minister of Defence said, Estonia is leader in fresh technologies, drone and anti-drone capabilities, the IT industry, so we want to benefit from this experience.
"The conclusions of the war in Ukraine clearly indicate that dangerous attacks, but inexpensive in drone production, are of a mass nature. Their fight with advanced and thus more costly air defence systems is operational but besides economically unjustified," said Adam Leszkiewicz, president of the PGZ-et.
He stressed that the consequence to specified threats must be effective and cost-effective. “Cooperation with Frankenburg Technologies will let us to jointly produce and offer the Armed Forces of Poland and another customers the most cost-effective effectors to combat this peculiar kind of drone threats,” said Leszkiewicz. As he added, cooperation with the European partner opens up the anticipation of utilizing backing within the framework SAFE program.
The president of the PGZ did not uncover the details of the location, but stated that fresh production facilities would be built at 1 of the factories belonging to the group.
