Thanks to erstwhile decisions to reverse the decision to reduce the Polish army's numbers and accelerate modernisation efforts, our defence budget increased at that time from around 2.4% of GDP to planned [4.8% of GDP this year](https://defence24.pl/force-arms/Polish-issue-less-on-defence-we know-number-report). Although the structure of these expenditures is unsatisfactory – besides much is made up of individual benefits (the legacy of the professional army model introduced in 2008) or the costs of servicing debt – we face a major change in redistribution.
