Bumar-Łabada and the South Korean Hyundai Rotem Company signed a technology transfer agreement for K2PL tank production. The paper will enable the installation line to be launched in Poland. The first vehicles should get off it in 2029. Production will take place in Gliwice.

The agreement is simply a consequence of an agreement concluded this summer. Ministry of Defence and Hyundai Rotem Company agreed Then the Polish army will buy another 180 K2 tanks. any of them will be cars in the Polishized version. K2PL production will start in South Korea. 3 prototype vehicles will be built in the Hyundai factory. Then the full process will be transferred to Poland. The first tank from the production line in Gliwice should exit in 2029.
Compared to the original, vehicles in the Polishized version will benefit Israel Trophy Active Protection System. It will detect incoming anti-tank missiles and neutralise them if essential with peculiar ammunition. This will consequence in an anti-drone strategy that disrupts the work of the drones sent by the enemy and the circular ammunition. K2PL will besides receive stronger armor and a 12.7 mm distant controlled device gun. The tanks will be partially equipped with Polish components. These include navigation, communication, and field management systems.
K2 is 1 of those tanks to change the face of the Polish army. The first contract to get them was signed in 2022.
