Fear.

War, migration crisis, global tensions — all this strengthens the sense of danger and vulnerability to xenophobia. There is simply a fear for the future: fear of the economical crisis, failure of security, falling standard of living. Fear of myself and family. A memory of a pandemic. Experience of large migratory waves in Europe. And in Poland besides concern about refugees from Ukraine – even though it is Ukrainian migrants that truly strengthen our economy.

These factors make powerful emotions.

And emotion is an environment where the extremist right is best found — PiS, Confederation, Braun environment. Radical, due to the fact that it is no longer a conservative based on values, but a policy feeding on fear.

Negative emotions — fear, anger, jealousy, hatred — are always stronger than positive. Liberals and the left have small chance in specified a “cloudy water”. It's hard to get optimism in Trump's times, Putin's times, Le Pen's or AfD's increasing strength.

It is hard to anticipate that, during the period of the offensive of populism, there will be more numbers of parties referring to democracy, the regulation of law, human rights or European integration.

The fact that politics is governed by fear present is besides seen in the democratic part of Poland: the rankings of Tusk are expanding and the remaining democratic parties are falling into a gap. Rationally reasoning voters — frightened but out of control — go to the top due to the fact that they do not want to hazard leaving democracy and simple decency. The problem is that there are just not adequate voters today.

The only real chance for democracy will come erstwhile people halt being afraid. erstwhile fear weakens, space will return to reasonableness and decency — and political radicals will lose fuel.

And the Hollow? His formation shot himself in the foot. And so far, it's not like she's gonna get up from it.
