The head of the President's Chancellery, Zbigniew Bogucki, powerfully opposed Prime Minister's plans to pay compensation for victims of German crimes from Polish budget funds. In his opinion, the work for reparations should remainder on the German side, not on Polish taxpayers. The President's veto can be a key signal that Poland does not intend to accept the function of payer of another people's wines, while defending the interests of the national budget.
