The Mesko plant in Pionki officially opened a fresh building designed, among others, for the assembly and elaboration of tank and artillery ammunition. Production in this facility, however, has already begun and more than 1500 pieces of 120 mm tank ammunition have already been manufactured there. In Pionki, there will besides be the first modular cargo mill for 155 mm ammunition in the country.
The expansion of the Mesko mill in Pionki (Mazowieckie province) is an component of "Project 400". This investment has been implemented since 2019 for PLN 466.7 million, which includes the construction of more than 20 buildings in Skarżysko-Kamienna and Pionki, and the acquisition of more than 1000 small-, medium-, large-caliber ammunition and rockets, as well as the acquisition of competence in the field of multi-base powder production and self-incineration shells.
As part of this investment, present a fresh building was officially opened in the Pionki plant, which includes the assembly and elaboration of tank and artillery ammunition. Production in the fresh facility, however, has already begun. – Since the launch, more than 10,000 modular loads of 155 mm and more than 1500 pieces of 120 mm tank ammunition have been created here – says Renata Gruszczyńska, CEO of Mesko.
Let us remind you that besides in Pionki there will be a modular burden mill for 155 mm ammunition. It will be the first specified plant in our country, which will importantly influence the independency of the Polish defence manufacture from external supplies. – present we do not produce loads in Poland, we buy everything outside. We want to build a mill in Pionki, where we will produce about 600 1000 pieces of these loads a year – said Adam Leszkiewicz, president of Polish Armed Forces Group in Polish Radio 24 a fewer days ago.
In turn, a fewer weeks ago, PGZ and Mesko signed in Pionki strategic agreement with French Eurenco. It active the construction of a 155 mm modular burden mill for ammunition. This is another action of the PGZ to increase the independency of the national defence industry.
"This year was highly crucial for PZZ in terms of production and investment activities. The breakthrough is 155 mm missiles and we are talking about the projectile itself, where we work with a technological partner, the company BAE Systems from the UK, as well as modular loads and a multi-base powder factory," said the president of PGZ.
The cargo mill in Pionki will be built on the basis of infrastructure owned by Mesko. The full process was preceded by long analyses involving representatives of all ammunition companies included in the PGZ. In selecting the strategical partner, more than 20 entities were taken into account, of which 3 companies were "in overtime".
– We plan to introduce a commercial law entity with a abroad partner, which will manage production operationally. We will have a majority in this company and we will decide what, how, erstwhile and for whom we produce," added Leszkiewicz. He pointed out that Polish military will benefit mainly from the factory's products in Pionki, which does not exclude export sales.
The company is to be established at the beginning of next year, and production at the fresh mill will start at the earliest at the end of 2027. The PGZ assumes that the mark production capacity for missiles and loads will be achieved in 2028.
