Minister of National Defence in Brussels
Mr Kosiniak-Kamysz attended an informal gathering of the Ministers of Defence of the European Union, organised by the Belgian Presidency, on 30-31 January. EU defence ministers held a number of working meetings on support for Ukraine, EU military engagement in another parts of the planet and support for the European defence industry. 1 of the topics of the talks was besides issues related to the transfer of 1 million pieces of ammunition to Ukraine. The heads of EU defence departments besides discussed the possibilities of supporting the European defence industry, in peculiar the issues to be covered in the European Defence manufacture strategy and the European Defence manufacture Programme. The required capabilities for future military missions, including the EU fast Deployment Capacity, were besides discussed. Ministers besides discussed safety issues in the Sahel and Gulf of Guinea region and fresh developments in the Red Sea, including EU efforts to preserve freedom of navigation there.
By the end of 2025, these fast deployment forces should be full prepared. There was a gap. I asked that too. What does this gap come from? Why is there a gap? We gotta answer this question, that these abilities, these capacity to fill and the readiness of combat groups would not have been realised if it had not been for Poland's position. From July 2024 to June 2025 Poland will exhibit combat groups that will be on duty. They'll be ready to deploy quickly. Without this, without filling this gap that arose in specified an unexpected mode, it would not be possible to accomplish the capacity by the end of 2025. The strategical Compasse would not be filled, I received immense thanks present from the advanced Representative, who twice emphasized the function of Poland and our commitment here - Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish.
The EU Defence Ministers gathering besides discussed the long-term support of Ukraine, assessed advancement in the implementation of the EUMAM training mission Ukraine and joint European ammunition acquisition initiatives and prospects for creating the proposed Ukrainian Assistance Fund.
