Slovakia is curious in Lightning anti-aircraft kits and a colonized version of the K2 tank. And this is only part of the declaration that was made at the gathering of Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz with Robert Kaliíček, Minister of Defence of Slovakia. The letter of intent signed by politicians besides concerns cooperation in the production of ammunition and armored wheel transporter.
– Our good relations are needed to build unity and strength within the European Union and NATO, but besides to strengthen the safety of the east flank of Europe," said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish after gathering with Robert Kaliíč, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Slovakia, who was visiting Warsaw today. As stressed by the head of the Polish MON, to avoid conflict, 1 must have a strong army, good allies and a strong society.
During the meeting, defence ministers of Poland and Slovakia signed a letter of intention to strengthen cooperation in the area of the armed industry. It includes, as Kosiniak-Kamish said, 4 issues. The first is the interest of the Slovak Polish side Lightning rocket anti-aircraft kits. – This is our export product, which worked very well in combat conditions in Ukraine. Lightning buys from us, among others, Norway, USA or Japan – mentioned Deputy Prime Minister.
The second issue is the joint action aimed at Increase in ammunition production, especially 155 mm caliber bullets. – Slovakia has immense production capacity in this regard, 1 of the largest in the world. And Poland must get specified capabilities – explained the head of the Polish MON. The 3rd point of the agreement afraid the joint production of an armoured wheel transporter. It would be based on Rosomak with the Slovak Turra-30 tower system. In the future, specified a vehicle would be sold on abroad markets.
The 4th issue in the letter of intent was the Slovak party’s declaration of interest a colonized version of the K2 tank. As Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz explained, Poland should communicate with the Korean side as shortly as possible and start production of the K2PL version.
– Self-sufficiency in defence of all country, besides productively and financially, is the most important, which is why I welcome the signed letter of intention to cooperate with Poland in strengthening these areas," said Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kaliíčk. He besides recalled that Warsaw and Bratislava can number on each another regardless of political changes. He praised Poland for its commitment to defence in the EU and NATO. “You have already met the limits of increase in defence spending, we want to take an example from you”, said the Minister of Defence of Slovakia. He besides thanked Polish soldiers for protecting Slovak airspace as part of the Air Police mission.
On the 3rd anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, politicians besides raised the subject of war. They expressed respect for Ukrainian defenders and bowed their heads over the victims of this conflict. “We request to work for a fair peace, taking into account Ukraine’s sovereignty,” said the Polish Deputy Prime Minister. Kaliēk called for the end of the war. "I hope that an agreement can be reached on this issue in order to save more lives," he stressed. Slovak politician added that the most crucial thing for Ukraine to keep its sovereignty and to be able to make freely.
The heads of defence departments of Poland and Slovakia besides discussed cooperation on territorial defence troops, the safety of the east border of Poland, the situation in the region and the increase of the EU and NATO military spending. “Our common strategical goal is to make safety the number 1 subject in Europe,” said Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamish.
