Hunting for Red October in real life

Marine and aviation forces from Norway, the USA and the UK are active in a wide-ranging search. The operation involves both ships and on-board helicopters adapted to the missions of the ZOP (Balling Submarine) and patrol aircraft, including P-8 Poseidon and E-2D Advanced Hawkeye. According to air traffic analysts, only British Poseidons performed almost 30 flights over the Norwegian Sea from 20 August to 27 August.
