Siewierz – lies in the historical Małopolska, in the area of Zagłębie Dąbrowski, in the erstwhile Kraków land. It is located on the Garba Tarnogórski on the river Black Przemsza.

Name

The village has a medieval metric and existed already in the 12th century. Name listed in 1123–1125 as Seuor, 1232 Sewior, 1250 Siewior, 1544 Siewier, 1546 Siewier, 1889 Siewier.

It comes from a Polish noun presently not in existence, meaning “north”. By the end of the 15th century, the city's name sounded like this (Syewyor, 1470–1480). The name most likely defined a place north of another geographical object.
