Another compromise by Waldemar Żurek – Minister who promised to settle, and brings chaos and defeat

Today, December 22, 2025, Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek, freshly following a spectacular defeat in the Zbigniew Ziobra case (the court postponed the detention session due to deficiency of material from the prosecutor's office), abruptly triumphantly announced on X: the prosecutors issued an indictment against Daniel Obietk.
The case concerns alleged abuse of powers erstwhile concluding contracts for detective services in Orlen – allegedly for surveillance of the opposition for nearly PLN 400 thousand.
Timing is not random. In the morning, the media roared from Żurek's disgrace: postponement of Ziebra's detention, problems with the Justice Fund (victims of crimes without support since January), alarm of the lawyer General about legal chaos. abruptly – boom! – "great success" in the case of Obiek.
Classic play: cover your own fall with individual else's "account". Worse still, Obietek himself immediately reacted: the prosecution blocked his evidence initiative, ignored his circumstances, and set an end to the evidence on the day of the charges. "Order issued: Accuse Obiek! And the command was carried out" – wrote Euro MP PiS. It's not the regulation of law, it's a political vendetta on a hurrah, without the right to a fair defense.
Żurek boasts about the "fundamental meaning" of the matter, but Poles see otherwise: a minister who cannot hold a simple arrest sitting even in his "own" courts, now throws accusations to the right and left to distract from his own failures. State companies are not a farm – consent.
But the U.S. Attorney's office at Żurek should not be a tool for political revenge either. It's weak, desperate and nefarious. alternatively of reliable accounts – media circus before Christmas.
