Deputy talker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak in a comment on his YouTube channel.
Poland should not send its troops to Ukraine. It is not only not in the interest of Poland, it is besides not in the interest of the European part of NATO, it is besides not in the interest of Ukraine itself. I can explain why.
In fresh days president Macron has arrived in Poland. He spoke with the president and Prime Minister Donald Tuski. The authoritative pretext for the visit was to study to president Zelenski and president Trump during the reopening of the renovated Notre-Dame Cathedral. In fact, the media assumes and we besides have suspicions that a discussion was held on the formulation of this military mission to guarantee the safety or stableness of Ukraine after the possible conclusion of peace.
Poland should not participate in specified a mission if specified a mission is formulatedFor a very simple reason. Poland has completely different and very liable tasks within the east flank of NATO. These tasks are, above all, the protection of our own borders and territories.
Poland is 1 of the few, outside the Baltic States, of the east NATO flank states that has a direct border with Russia – I mean the Królewiecki territory – and open border crisis with Russia dependent. This is, of course, about Belarus.
A large part of the armed forces have been active in the last 2 years in protecting the border against the migration hybrid conflict caused by Belarus, with which Russia is cooperatingBecause any of these immigrants go through Moscow.
It didn't happen by accident. It wasn't self-inflicted. It is worth noting that Even another east NATO flanks, more east of us, have no analogous border crisis, although besides bordering Belarus. I mean the Baltic States. This conflict was created on intent and was created just to test the possibilities of protecting borders by Poland.
What Poland should so focus on is the addition of its own reserves, the addition of its own weaponry, a large part of which it has transferred to Ukraine, and the effective protection of its own border and the preparation for possible opposition to aggression in its own territory. The Baltic States should be preparing for the same task, by the way.
The burden of stabilizing Ukraine after possible peace negotiations, which we do not yet know if it will happen, but if it happens, if there is simply a mandate given by a group of states or by the UN to bring peacekeeping forces to Ukraine, then This burden should be borne by countries which are distant from Russia, without a direct hazard of beginning a border conflict with Russia.
There is another crucial argument, namely Lavrow ultimatum and Putin PolicyPutin's demands were made long before the outbreak of a full-scale war, a Russian attack on Ukraine. This is an effort to divide NATO states into 2 baskets. We should not in any way facilitate Russia's division of NATO states into 2 baskets. Expedition of Polish soldiers to Ukraine would exposure them to a certain purpose. To mark possible attacks or Russian provocations and test our allies' consequence to specified selective attacks or provocations. For this reason too, we should not do this so that NATO is not subject to an examination that it might not pass, namely the test of solidarity from possible selective provocations or attacks on soldiers of the east flank of NATO.
So this request, which I am talking about, I will stress again, he is not only in Poland's interest, so that Poland does not get active in a war which until now does not participate and so absolutely should stay – support for Ukraine is rather different from participating in the war. Sending his soldiers to the area of the ongoing armed conflict is simply a declaration of readiness to usage these military forces.
Poland at the moment, no substance what politicians say, is not ready to enter the ongoing war! End of story. Poland is not ready for this. possibly the Americans are ready, possibly the French are ready, possibly the British are ready, possibly the Germans are ready, although I seriously uncertainty it, while Poland is not ready. Strong states, far from Russia, which are in NATO and are ambitious to participate in the global game and to make stableness in the post-Soviet area, in the Ukraine area, may and perhaps, if peace conditions are negotiated, should send peacekeepers to guarantee these peace conditions. Poland does not belong to these countries.
We have a border with Russia, we have an open border crisis, we have a large part of the armed forces active in stabilising our own border, we have unfulfilled training plans, we have incomplete reserves, we have incomplete weapons, we have incomplete anti-aircraft defense. We are in the midst of the demolition of Russian combat measures, and we should so conduct a cautious, prudent policy.
We should not be tempted to participate in global events. Temptation, which may someway fuel our pride, that we will be participants of large historical events here, but that is only temptation. Western countries might just want to usage Poland in this way to avoid engaging their forces, their soldiers.
The fact is, if the Western states want to take a serious part in the game of Ukraine, about which sphere of influence Ukraine will be there, what will be the government, what will be its limit, what peace there will be, then the Western states, in peculiar the Americans, must engage their forces and resources.
Here you gotta repeat this to Western countries, the largest and strongest: there is no free lunch! If you want Ukraine to be in the western sphere of influence and not in Russian, you must engage your forces and resources. You will not do this with the hands of Poles and Baltic states. You can't just do that with the Ukrainians. If you said A, I mean, it invested in Ukraine politically, militarily, financially, intelligencely, you should be able to say B, I mean negociate peace terms and then safe this room.
If Ukraine was disarmed from atomic weapons many years ago and gave it a safety guarantee, you should be able to say B, that is, take work for what you did. That's not what Poles will do for you. And that is precisely what Prime Minister Tusk and president Andrzej Duda should say during all kinds of global talks.
Putting on the agenda the first Poles can only complicate this situation, rise the level of complications of this crisis, this war to a fresh level, which we do not have and we do not want to see. NOT for sending Polish soldiers to Ukraine. NOT for bringing Poland into war!
