The production of 155 mm artillery shells started at the plants in Kraśnik, which belong to Mesko. The first batch – respective 1000 pieces – came down from modernized assembly lines. Until now in the Polish Armed Forces Group, only Desamet was active in the manufacture of cannonhaubic Krab and K9 ammunition. The aim of Mesko is to produce 150 1000 rounds of 155 mm a year.
According to the plans of the Ministry of Defence, Poland must in the close future importantly increase ammunition production. This is mainly about 155 mm caliber missiles, which are powered by the main weapons of Polish artillerymen – Krab and K9 cannonhaubice. Today, Mesko S.A., a associate of the Polish Armed Forces Group, informed that production lines in its factories in Kraśnik left the first batch of ammunition of this caliber. respective 1000 rounds were produced.
This is simply a crucial minute for Mesko S.A. and for PGZ, which has so far produced this kind of ammunition only at Desamet. The company from Skarżyska Kamienna, to launch production of 155 mm caliber ammunition, invested in Kraśnik tens of millions of zlotys. With its funds, Mesko bought a property complex of 3 plots with a full area of about 1,53 ha from the mill of Rolling Bearings in Kraśnik. The company besides purchased a game of over 1 ha under warehouses from Kraśnik Municipality. The company was besides enriched with fresh machines – lathes, fillers, cranes. Instruments and measuring tools were purchased. The equipment for heat-working has besides been upgraded.
Renata Gruszczyńska, president of Mesko S.A., emphasizes that the launch of 155 mm projectiles in Kraśnik was possible in rather a fast time, as the plant has been active in the production of bodies for ammunition of this caliber so far. As a result, it had facilities which only required upgrades. “I want to emphasise this very clearly that we are not starting from scratch, but we are developing our current technological and production possible to increase production in Poland,” she explained.
Chief Mesko S.A. added that another key step in the improvement of the competence of the largest Polish ammunition maker is the launch of the production of propellants in Poland. As she said, the plant in Pionki is working intensively to prepare the production of modular loads for 155 mm ammunition. The company develops a business plan and tries to get the funds needed to invest. “After achieving this goal, propellants will be produced in Poland,” announced Renata Gruszczyńska.
