Poland in NATO, an alliance for troubled times

The next anniversary of Poland's entry into NATO provides an perfect point of mention for reflection on what kind of defence alliance we entered into and in which we presently operate. Wondering if we are much more assured present that NATO is simply a strategical guarantor of our safety on the full east flank, and not simply a symbolic break with the cold-war divisions of the continent.
