In view of the expanding frequency of power outages and the expanding risks associated with energy infrastructure, both in Poland and Europe, experts call for better preparation of households. The request for self-sufficiency and the safeguarding of basic measures for the endurance of crisis situations are highlighted.

Polish energy infrastructure under pressure

According to the Government safety Centre (RCB) data, power outages are an increasingly frequent phenomenon resulting from utmost weather conditions, method failures and cyber threats.   • Cash – In case of failure of banking systems the only option will be to pay cash.

Preparedness of Poles to the crisis

CBOS investigation from 2023 shows that only 25% of Poles have any preparation for crisis situations. Even less, due to the fact that only 8% have alternate energy sources specified as power generators. Experts are alerting that a low level of awareness and preparation can consequence in chaos in the event of major accidents.

However, Poles are increasingly curious in the subject of self-sufficiency. In 2024, searching for phrases specified as “how to prepare home for blackout” or “prices of power generators” increased by over 40% compared to the erstwhile year.

Actions of the Polish authorities
