The Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union began on 1 January and will last until the end of June. During this time, our country will be responsible, among another things, for setting the agenda for the meetings of individual EU bodies and conducting negotiations among the associate States. The motto of the Polish Presidency is Security, Europo!, and our country will focus on 7 dimensions: external, internal, information, economic, energy, food and health.
The beginning of the Polish Presidency will be held at the Teatr Wielki-National Opera on Friday, during which Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Head of the European Council Antonio Costa will speak. Diplomats from abroad institutions in Warsaw are besides invited to the event. However, it turns out that the Polish government does not want the presence of the Hungarian ambassador. According to Onet, head of the MFA Radosław Sikorski sent a applicable note to the Hungarian delegation, indicating that the participation of the highest rank of Hungarian diplomat in Poland in the event is not provided.
Refrigeration of asylum relations
More interesting, a fewer weeks ago, the ambassador was invited to attend the ceremony, even confirming his presence. But as you can see, plans have changed. This, of course, has to do with the worsening of Polish-Hungarian relations in connection with the granting of asylum by Hungary to Marcin Romanowski, erstwhile Deputy Minister of Justice.
The Hungarian Government took into account the request of Marcin Romanowski and granted global protection under the Law on the Law of Asylum of 2007 in connection with the Polish Government and the National Prosecutor's Office acting in violation of its rights and freedoms – wrote late on platform X the defender of Romanowski, Bartosz Lewandowski.
This information was confirmed by the head of the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's office, Gergley Gullyás, who estimated that Poland was in a crisis of the regulation of law.
