According to the U.S. authorities, Hamieh, as vice president of the Lebanese improvement Investment Authority, diverted funds from the trade agreement with Iraq to rebuild Lebanon to enrich himself and Hezbollah.
Among the sanctioned is Hamieh's nephew, Daniel Hamieh (Hamie), a Polish citizen. They're both on the board of directors. Calllync sp. z o.o.registered in WarsawWhich, according to the U.S., sent hundreds of thousands of dollars to a company associated with the Hezbollah backing group.
The imposition of sanctions occurs at a time erstwhile Hezbollah leads Israel's shelling in support of Iran, with which the militia is associated.

"Iran is the head of a snake, as far as global terrorism is concerned, and its partners, specified as Hezbollah, carry out Tehran's mission to sow chaos and demolition beyond its borders" - stressed the US Treasury Secretary quoted in the communication Scott Bessent.
"Hezbollah continues to allocate funds that legally belong to the Lebanese people to finance its terrorist operations. Today's action is measured at key actors in the global financial networkwho support his combat activities" - he added.
