Poles do not want Ukraine in NATO. Latest poll

According to an IBRiS survey for Republic of More than half of the respondents (52.7%) object to Poland supporting Ukraine's efforts to join NATO. The support for this direction was expressed by 33.5 percent of respondents and 13.8 percent had no opinion.

The poll besides shows that as many as 59 percent of the supporters of the ruling camp are in favour of supporting Kiev (the other opinion is 29 percent of voters on this side of the political scene). In turn, the vast majority of opponents of Ukraine's accession to the Alliance are opposition voters – PiS, Confederacy and Together – a full of 74 percent. Men (64%), people 50 years of age (61%), and residents of the village (62%) dominate among those opposed to supporting Ukraine's efforts to join NATO. 71 percent of them have primary or vocational education.

According to Republic of, this group most frequently uses information provided by TVP (68%) and tv Republika (65%). 70% declare right-wing views and as much as 91% view the situation of their household as unsatisfactory.

The diary notes that scepticism towards Ukraine's membership of NATO grows among Poles. In August 2023, the IBRiS survey indicated that 47.7% of respondents opposed Ukraine's integration with the Alliance, and 40% were in favour.

The IBRiS survey was carried out by CATI on 29-30 August 2025 on a typical group of 1069 people.

Different opinions in politics

In May, president Karol Nawrocki openly opposed Ukraine's accession to NATO during a visit to Toruń with Sławomir Mentzen from the Confederation. In a conversation in Mentzen's podcast he stressed that Ukraine does not meet many of the European Union's requirements, noting, among others, the advanced level of corruption.

The Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, is of a different opinion. – Putin's first and most crucial request for Ukraine and the West is to ban Ukraine's accession to NATO. Nawrocki just signed up to this postulate. The next will be the surrender and division of Ukraine. He'll sign too. Ukraine does not give up

The possible of Ukraine's membership of NATO now seems very distant. In February U.S. Secretary of defence Pete Hegseth stated that The United States does not believe that Ukraine's membership of NATO may be the consequence of a negotiated agreement. Yet Ukraine has consistently stressed that its long-term abroad policy objectives include joining both NATO and the European Union.
