Fans who suffered as a consequence of clashing with the police after the Portuguese championship match announced a suit against the Portuguese Republic. The officers, in their opinion, were highly violent.
The clashes occurred during the Saturday celebration of the Sporting Lisbon win. According to fan coverage, police officers started shooting them without informing with smooth-bore weapons, and the intervention itself was unwarranted.
One of the fans was shot in the face and lost an eye. Another was hit in the chest and beaten.
During Saturday's fete, there was besides a robbery at Alvalade Stadium. The spoil fell, among others, the Cup of Champions League football. The police have already recovered the trophy.
