General Jan Podhorski's funeral

On 13 January, 1 of the large Polish nationalists was buried in Poznań. General Jan Podhorski was a soldier of the NSZ, a Warsaw insurgent, activist of the All-Polish Youth and scouts.

General Podhorski's ceremony began at 10:30 p.m. Holy Mass in the Poznań church of Christ the Redeemer. The mass was celebrated by 12 priests, including chaplains of Wielkopolska patriotic circles.

At 12:00 a.m., appropriate ceremony ceremonies were held in the cemetery in Miłostów. On the last road, Podhorski was accompanied by dozens of banner posts including the All-Polish Youth, the Union of National Armed Forces Soldiers, the Hermesia Academic Corporation.

The general's ceremony was state-owned. It was addressed by the Greater Poland Voivodeship and the Head of the Office for Combatants and Represented People, and was besides read by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The general said goodbye to the soldiers with a salute, fans of Lech Poznań fired the race, during the ceremony a national anthem was sung.

There were many omnipolates present at the ceremony, each territory of the All-Polish Youth issued a delegation for the ceremony of a deceased colleague. The MW activists prepared a banner with the slogan: Sleep in the dark grave Let Poland dream for you, decorated with Toothless and black kirem. Who was General Jan Podhorski?

The future general came from a patriotic family, his father Maximilian Diering (the name Podhorski was accepted by his boy Jan during the conspiracy) took part in the Wielkopolska Uprising, and in 1926 he defended legally elected authorities before the Piłsudski Regiment. Young Jan was a associate of many patriotic organizations in this National Secondary School Organization and Scouting.

When planet War II was coming, he was not yet in his draft age, and so volunteered as a volunteer for the National Defence Battalion "The Flame". He took part in a bayonet fight at Sompoln. On September 17, he was taken prisoner, but he escaped from it. He was later arrested by the Gestapo, from which he besides managed to free himself, but experienced a brutal interrogation.

In 1940 he founded a conspiracy group of scouts “Orls”. In April 1942, he made his way to the General Governorate, where he joined the activities of the Lizard Union and later the National Armed Forces. He participated in the Warsaw Uprising, he was the commander of 1 of the assault groups active in the capture of the Police Command and the Church of the Holy Cross. After the uprising ended, he was imprisoned in a prisoner of war camp, got free after the Soviets entered.

After the war, he participated in an effort to reactivate the All-Polish Youth, as an omnipolak he dealt with military affairs in the organization. He initiated a student strike in Poznań. In 1946, he was arrested for active in the MW. The punishment for national activity was 7 years imprisonment, yet thanks to amnesty he left after 3 years.

By the end of the period of communism, he was watched by security. After the fall of the commune, he joined the activities of the Kombatant groups, among others, he was president of the Chief Council of the Union of National Armed Forces Soldiers. He maintained contacts with younger colleagues from the All-Polish Youth, who participated in his birthday all year, especially solemn were the centenary birthday in 2021, on which the general wished to see a 100 omnipolacs.
