According to data By mid-2025, 115.7 1000 children were born in Poland. That's 10,000 little than in the same period last year. The tragic results consequence in experts changing crisis prospects – the current rate of fertility decline was only planned for 2056. It seems that the promotion of childless culture and the constant scare of pandemics and wars has done their part.
The demographic collapse of Poland is deepening. Since the mid-1980s, the number of newborns has been steadily decreasing. Since 2013, there has besides been a decrease in the number of Polish residents – in 2024 the population decreased by 156 1000 people. This means that the number of fresh births differed from the number of dead. The Polish population has been decreasing for many years. By the end of 2023, there were 37.63 million people, compared to 38.53 million at the end of 2010. In total, population declines were recorded in 7 European countries, but in Poland it was the largest.
Demographers inform that the problem is widening with the increase in post-production age. They now account for 24% of the population, and by the mediate of the 21st century this rate may emergence to more than 35%, with a simultaneous decrease in birth rates.
According to Prof. Zbigniew Krysiak, government policy does not presently favour families, but focuses on migration, mainly from Asia and Africa. "In another European countries, this does not increase the fertility of indigenous peoples. It leads to the growth of Muslim communities, and this in the long word means moving distant from Christian foundations," the prof. points out. He added that without an effective demographic policy, the state could search solutions specified as taxation increases, an increase in retirement age, and an increase in immigration.
Magdalena Guziak-Nowak from the Polish Association of Life Defenders touched the core of the problem. She pointed out that the problem of low fertility was not limited to financial factors. "Let us show that parent and father are the most beautiful of life's roles" she called for, stressing the request to rebuild pro-family culture. Indeed, today's left-wing media make a childless lifestyle, calculated exclusively for self-fulfillment and pleasure.
