"Suspected Observations". Drones one more time interrupted Munich Airport

After many reports of drone activity, the authorities closed twice Saturday night Munich Airport.


The airport was reopened before midnight, and on Sunday morning traffic was already normal.

"Suspicious observations" were reported by respective people, including safety officers and airport staff," reported the national Police and airport authorities on Sunday (19.10.2025). Consequently, the airport was discontinued for half an hr around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and then around 11:00 p.m. for another half an hour.

Airport interruption

The impact of the interruption on flights and passengers was small. 3 aircraft were diverted – 2 of them could later land in Munich – and 1 launch was cancelled.

Bavarian police have inspected the area, including by helicopter. In the end, she did not identify the presence of drones or suspects in the area and did not find what could have caused the reports.

The further investigation of applications will be conducted by Bavarian police. In general, Land police are liable for proceedings close the airport, while in the airport itself the national police are responsible. The safety and detection of drones at commercial airports in Germany are liable for: German Air Traffic Control (DTC), Land Air Safety Authorities, Airport Operators, Land Police and national Police.

Drones over Germany: another incident
