Zelenski besides stressed the gratitude of Ukraine, writing that the Americans helped save the Ukrainian people. He said he wanted a strong relation with the United States.

On February 28, the president of Ukraine met at the White home with US president Donald Trump and Vice president J. D. Vance. The gathering ran violently, and Zelenski left the building. The planned joint press conference of both presidents was besides cancelled.
