“Orca” from France... but for the Netherlands

There was so no surprise in the tender for the transportation of successors to the Dutch submarines of the Walrus type. As expected, it was won by the French Naval Group, which in cooperation with the Dutch shipbuilding company Royal IHC** will build 4 fresh generation submarines for €2.5 billion.** So far, we don't know what units are. The Dutch Ministry of Defence’s communication only shows that conventional vessels were purchased "using state-of-the-art technology and having increased firepower".
