On 20 October 2025, Colonel Marek Pietrzak took the position of press spokesperson for the General Staff of the Polish Army.
The fresh spokesperson announces the strengthening of strategical communication of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, stressing that the experience of the war in Ukraine clearly showed that information became a weapon.
– In a planet where the rate of reaction is measured in minutes, and communicative shapes social and political attitudes, the communication of the armed forces must be coherent, fast and credible," said Colonel Pietrzak.
Among the priorities of the fresh Ombudsman are:
1. centralisation of transmission with the bottom-up initiative – ‘many voices – 1 message’,
2. more effective usage of social media,
3. showing the human face of a soldier,
4. fast reaction and fact-checking,
5. the improvement of global communication
6. professionalization of press agents,
7. care for the quality of visual transmission,
8. Cooperation with media and influencers.
Colonel Marek Pietrzak began his military service in 2000. He is an artilleryman, a postgraduate of the General Joseph Bem College of Officers in Toruń, the National Defence Academy, the Military method Academy and the Warsaw School of Economics. In fresh years he served as a press spokesperson for the Territorial Defence Army and commander of the 18th Capital OT Brigade.
He is the winner of the award "Buzdigany 2020" and the 2023 Warsaw Prize.
Taking over the function of press spokesperson for the General Staff of the Polish Army is another step in the construction of a modern, resilient communication strategy of the Polish Army – based on professionalism, trust and work for the word.
