The celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the kidnapping and martyrdom of Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko last the full year. Their culminating minute will be a solemn Holy Mass led by the Metropolitan of Warsaw, Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz, celebrated on October 19 in the Church of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Warsaw. The faithful are besides invited to a novena through the intercession of the blessed - for the intention of the Homeland. The participants of the press conference, which took place on Thursday in the home of the Archbishops of Warsaw, spoke about many another events that have already taken place and initiatives that are planned in connection with the culminating minute of the celebrations. - I ask that this opportunity, which is the 40th anniversary of the death of Blessed Father Popiełuszko, be utilized in the best possible way, and that this figure be brought closer to the contemporary generation primarily in the spiritual dimension - said Cardinal Nycz during the conference. A letter from Polish bishops dedicated to Blessed Father Popiełuszko is planned for September 29.
