We cried over Bucha.

We were moved by images from Mariupola.
And then...

Today, alternatively of compassion, we search justification for our own indifference.
We say, “This is not our war”, “There is nothing we can do”, “The Ukrainians live at our expense”, “and Volyn?”.
We truly gave ourselves a putin communicative so easy –
That it's not worth helping, that you gotta think only of yourself, that Ukraine is evil?

Or possibly there was no request for propaganda – possibly we were the ones who suppressed sensitivity.
Maybe it's more convenient for us to pretend that we don't see suffering than to do something with it?

We were no longer ashamed of indifference.
Something killed our compassion, and we didn't even announcement when.
And this is the actual triumph of the Kremlin—not on the front but in our hearts and heads.

Facts:

  • In March 2022, 94% of Poles supported the admission of refugees from Ukraine.

  • In 2025, support fell to 50–55%.

This means a decrease of 30-40 percent points in 3 years.
It's not just a change of temper – it's a change of ourselves.
