PKW Iraq evacuated

Our soldiers were evacuated from Iraq – Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish informed on social media. Most of the military are already in Poland or en way to the country. The government decided to evacuate PKW Iraq due to an expanding threat in the region caused by the mediate East War. The decision was agreed with NATO allies.

On Friday afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz informed about the evacuation of PKW Iraq. ‘In relation to a deterioration in safety in the mediate East region, after examining the operational conditions and possible threats, the decision to relocate the Polish Military Quota from Iraq was made. The full process was conducted in agreement with our NATO allies," wrote the Minister of Defence on social media.

Most of the military are already in Poland or en way to the country. "The precedence was to supply maximum safety for soldiers and PKW workers," stressed Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The Operations Command of Types of Armed Forces was liable for planning, supervising and coordinating activities. "The operation was carried out in close cooperation with NATO allies. PKW Iraq creates about 300 soldiers, including training and engineering teams. The mission takes place in the framework of the global Operation Inherent Resolve under the auspices of the Global Coalition Force against the muslim State. According to the President, the PKW Iraq mission was extended in late 2025 on June 30 of that year.
