It's another week of the presidential campaign, so it's time for another PiS effort to usage the subject of transgenders for political collapse. This time the subject was raised by Tobias Bocheński, rival of Rafał Trzaskowski in the last election for president of Warsaw. He accused Trzaskowski of sending the capital city hall to officials of the “Empathic Guide and Effective Communication”. Why would empathetic and effective communication be negative? due to the fact that he assumes that if an unincorporated individual comes to the office, officials should respect her identity and address her utilizing neutral language forms. And that's it. The full argument is that the Warsaw officials have received guidelines that they should not misgender non-business people.
It is hard to be surprised, of course, that the PiS environment focuses its attacks on Rafale Trzaskowski, the biggest rival of his candidate Karol Nawrocki. Nor does it surprise that he uses LGBT+ for this. PiS has been staring at Donald Trump for years, and more late besides at Elona Muska, as in a picture. As shortly as the recently sworn president of the United States identified transgenders as 1 of the main targets of the hunt, PiS politicians began as a mantra to repeat the slogan "two sexes" and ask Trzaskowski how many there were. You can't play their game and win — speaking of Trump's "two-sex", Musk and PiS mean to throw out any form of transgenderity beyond the margin of society.
When Trzaskowski was asked yesterday on Polsat News about “An empathic guide and effective communication”, he replied that “everybody deserves respect, including erstwhile it comes to how he addresses whom”. It would be a simple and truly comprehensive answer, if it were not for the fact that the presidential candidate later referred to himself as “a politician of common sense” and recalled that “according to Polish law we have 2 biological sexes”. This is simply a major simplification — for biology, sex is simply a more multidimensional spectrum. Physical features of sex are many and they are not always unambiguously male or unambiguously female. Even if we only consider sex identity, the tense strategy and the brain are besides “biological”. Finally, we should mention that what the law on LGBT+ people looks like in Poland is simply a reason for our country to be ashamed. The legal position of LGBT+ persons is something to change, not a mention point.
Bringing sex into 1 of 2 options without any exceptions, without complicated cases and without a place for self-determination about your identity is simply a way to nowhere. The subject of transgenders, their places in society and their rights is besides crucial and delicate to talk about them on specified principles. The chances of PiS politicians changing their approach in this substance are, of course, negligible. It remains to appeal to journalists and politicians closer to the centre, so that, reasoning of "healthy reason", they do not confuse it with simplifying and shallowing complex subjects.
Meanwhile, the most sensible message on sex in this presidential run came from Simon Holownia today. The leader of Poland 2050 expressed his outrage that the Law and Justice on issues related to sex identity sees “a reason for political collapse” due to the fact that he himself refers to them “with large respect” due to the fact that “he met with the people concerned”. It is highly crucial that Holownia has embedded transgender persons in its surroundings. It's not about any theoretical individual and their hypothetical pronouns, it's about real people who go to the same class, work in the same company, live in the same cage, and belong to society just like those of us. Only specified shortening of distance can counteract the fear unknown, to which the right-wing populists regularly reach.
