Do we inactive have a chance to experience peace? This question is the starting point for considering the situation of a contemporary man: overwhelmed by excessive information and incentives, while at the same time lacking resources to deal with it. Emi Buchwald in the movie entitled ‘Beautiful flower meadow’ of 2022, available as part of the fresh Horizons Festival.
Today it is hard to find actual peace. Peace understood primarily as maintaining an interior balance, even in situations that may at first glance seem unfavorable to us. There's quite a few reasons that disturb us all day. Excess of incentives, news coming from all over the planet about various crises (including, for example, those concerning the unstable political situation in the world) or the expectations of the society with which everyone is confronted (e.g. the force created by social media to be productive or to be constantly online) – these are only a fewer drops in the sea, from which present fewer people are able to full emerge.

There is nothing to cheat about – real peace is simply a scarce commodity for many people.
When reality appears to be a challenge
In March 2026 the Polish premiere of the latest, first full-length, movie Emi Buchwald entitled “There are no ghosts in the flat on Good” took place. On this occasion it is worth to look at the director's earlier work, which is the already mentioned “Beautiful flower meadow”. This movie received, among others, a prize Warsaw movie Festival for the best acting short film, as well as the Award of the Polish Independent Cinema Juliusz Machulski for the best director. How said the manager herself: “Beautiful flower meadow” is simply a communicative about a man whose planet of ideas and beautiful ideas collides with a fast pace and an excess of outside planet stimuli.” It is worth looking at this movie as a communicative about searching for an interior balance.
The main character, Emil (in this function Andrzej Kłak), is simply a man who, as a scenery architect, is highly delicate to the beauty and usefulness of nature. In 1 scene, the protagonist sees trees intended to be cut out, making him aware that society does not share his sensitivity to the natural planet and does not search to care for the richness of the environment. But this is not the only reason why the hero feels a increasing frustration.

Emil has a teenage daughter, Irena. The background to the movie communicative about seeking peace is their shared journey by car. Although a man tries to be a good father, their relation does not show emotional intimacy. During the road, Emil focuses mainly on business phones alternatively of talking to his daughter. Emil wants to take Irena to the airport, but the faulty car effectively prevents it. Additionally, the mechanics at the workshop do not want to fix it right away, they just tell Emil to wait patiently, which makes the situation worse. All of this makes him not feel understood by people in the immediate vicinity, nor can he catch his breath for a moment. In the end, the hero can't stand it, succumbs to his annoyance and steals a car so his daughter can scope the airport in time.
Outrageous and immoral? Or possibly just human.
Perhaps each of us is sometimes specified an Emil – impatient, frustrated, incapable to regulate emotions, focused mainly on what does not work out.
Someone who has the impression that life at all turn puts him to another test. individual who, even if he is aware of his own shortcomings and deficiency of intellectual resources to live a life of peace, cannot cope with them. But the origin of Emil's anxiety we see on the screen, we can't always see ours.

Flowerbed as a space of peace
Despite the neurotic nature – manifested, among others, by excessive sensitivity, emotional instability, or greater vulnerability to stress – Emil is not a man without hope, who completely fails to see the light in the tunnel. We can see this in the scene where he tells the clerk about the title meadow, trying to convince him that it will be a good alternate to the "poor" lawn. "Here will be a meadow full of chabras, glaucoma... This meadow will flourish all year and grow. And you, erstwhile you leave the home to feel calm and lie down on the grass, will breathe that smell... You'll hear the sound of bees, bumblebees, butterflies. Biodiversity, you understand? You give them shelter, you give them jobs. Your daughters will run after them, and they will remember it beautifully after years. This flower meadow’.
Emil notes that man is incapable of surviving only in a urbanised planet and needs contact with nature to function in harmony with the surrounding reality and to keep an interior balance. However, the meadow that the main character is talking about can be treated as more than just a physical place, which can be indicated on the map. It can be a metaphor of intellectual well-being, which manifests itself, among others, life in mindfulness, lightness, freedom from constant tension or enjoying seemingly simple everyday experiences.
Although Emil does not express it explicitly, his monologue reveals a longing for balance and a planet that does not appear to be a minefield, where all decision should be carefully controlled, due to the fact that there may be an detonation at any moment.

How to find your “link”?
It is crucial for each of us to effort to look for just as “beautiful flower meadow” in his life.
Although actual peace for no 1 is simply a given state erstwhile and for all, 1 can boldly draw the thesis that we are able to experience it.
Emil saw peace in contact with nature, and did not hesitate to observe the excessive interference of man into the environment. He was right – many studies propose that spending time in the womb of nature has a beneficial effect on intellectual health. How else can you aid yourself?
- It is worth looking at where we usually focus our attention. Are we constantly online, overloaded with various messages and information, but do we let ourselves to turn off the telephone and breath, distant from all distractions?
- Not without meaning are everyday habits, due to the fact that these simple, frequently almost unaware activities, repeated all day, have a crucial impact on intellectual welfare. From myself I can urge the practice of writing down any good things that happened during the last day. It sounds inconspicuous, but after a fewer months of practice, the brain, programmed mainly to search for problems, thanks to regular practice shifts to noticing what's good in life, and hence a short way to halt surviving in constant tension.
- It is worth caring for the relations with our surroundings and the people closest to us. The protagonist of the movie wanted a good relation with his daughter to specified an degree that he committed to exceeding the standards set in society to drive her to the airport. He yet promised to keep his word. Of course, I do not urge you to break the law right away, but it is worth remembering to see another man even in hard situations.
These examples are not revealing, yet not everyone realises that they can mitigate the interior crisis. The subject itself is besides nothing fresh – it was already taken by ancient philosophers. But he will most likely never lose his actuality and universality, due to the fact that all man, regardless of nationality, material status, or times in which he should live, experiences various concerns which, depending on the factors mentioned, can take on different faces. The longing for actual peace, however, is something established in human nature.
Towards the interior balance
A renowned and respected psychiatrist and psychotherapist, prof. Bogdan de Barbaro, in conversation with Katarzyna Kubisiowska for the “Wszystko Tygodnik” stated that the full deficiency of anxiety in itself could besides be worrying. So it is not about always moving distant from discomfort and difficulties or completely denying their existence, due to the fact that smaller or larger crises will happen to us all our lives.
It is worth trying to be a individual who is aware of what is happening in the world, while at the same time realizing what is real and only directing his energy to it.
In view of things and circumstances that are not dependent on us, we should adopt a humble attitude and just let go. Fighting them can only be another origin of discouragement, tension and frustration. This is besides made clear by “Beautiful April meadow”. Many things cannot be handled alone, and then it is worth seeking help. However, erstwhile we take care of interior peace, we have more resources to deal with what is uncomfortable, while inactive maintaining a sense of balance in everyday life.
