The fresh unit of the Polish Army in the Judiciary is increasing stronger. 200 soldiers already service in the 21st Light Mountain Battalion in Wartime. The willing have reported twice as many. And another, last year's recruitment is on. It is simply a historical return of the Podhalese to the region, where in hard mountain conditions they will take care of the defence of the country.
Until recently, there were only plans and maps, and the first containers were set up in the square. present the fresh mountain unit of the Polish Army is getting closer to achieving full readiness. It successfully increases both its size and its equipment. The construction of the temporary camp has already been completed. Modern infrastructure provides full facilities for regular service and training of soldiers.
In the past year, 2 specialised sections of the mountain infantry and a support company were formed. Elites attract candidates
Currently, about 230 soldiers are stationed in War Wars. Their training is far from the barracks routine. Their main task is to strengthen the defence readiness of the country in the region, where terrain and natural conditions require specialised skills. “This specificity of the battalion is an additional motivation for the service. To date, about 400 people have volunteered for professional military service in the 21st Light Mountain Battalion (more than half of them have joined its ranks). – First of all, they come from the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, most frequently from the districts: Nowo Sądecki, Nowo Sątarski, Tatrański, Tarnowski. The inhabitants of these areas are just closer to the war unit. Both those in passive or active reserve and professional soldiers from another military units who want to service in the battalion are reported," adds Captain Zbigniew Czapik. Currently, the Military Recruitment Center in Nowy Sącz is looking for officers, sub-commissioners and privates for specified positions as: shooter, bomb squad, targeting, squad leader, as well as radiotelephonist, driver with categories C, C+E and cook. Plans presume that 21 Light Mountain Battalion will number more than 600 soldiers. I hope that thanks to this, young people will stay here due to the fact that they will see a chance to stabilise their lives," emphasises Leszek Skowron, the mayor of the municipality of Korzenna.
