Earlier in January, a court in Belgium dismissed a suit against the head of the European Commission over possible irregularities in orders for vaccines during the pandemic. The suit was filed by Belgian lobbyist Frederic Baldan, who claimed that von der Leyen's actions caused economical harm to Belgium. The exact prices of vaccine doses are not given under the pretext of contractual obligations not to disclose details. EU countries have besides experienced delays in procurement and vaccination campaigns, leading, among others, to judicial matters. MEPs criticised the European Commission for the deficiency of transparency in vaccine procurement.
