Philippines breaks contract on helicopters from Russia

The Philippines decided to cancel a contract signed last year for 16 Mi-17 helicopters along with training and service, which cost 12.7 billion pesos or about $243 million. The decision is linked to the outbreak of war in Ukraine and US sanctions. Recently, the Philippines besides ordered 32 Black Hawk helicopters at PZL Mielec, and are presently considering buying more machines to replace those Russian ones.
