Philippines breaks contract for helicopters from Russia

The Philippines decided to cancel the contract signed last year for 16 Mi-17 helicopters with training and service, which cost 12.7 billion pesos or about $243 million. The decision is related to the outbreak of war in Ukraine and US sanctions. Recently, the Philippines besides ordered 32 Black Hawk helicopters from PZL Mielec, and is presently considering purchasing more machines to replace the Russian ones.
