Ryszard Petru officially announced his candidacy for president of Poland 2050, becoming the first politician to publically fight for organization leadership after Szymon Holownia's decision to resign. In an interview with Gazeta.pl, the MP explained that he wanted to "have an impact on reality, and the best way is to lead a political party".
Petru sets himself an ambitious goal of achieving 10% support in the next parliamentary elections, which he believes is "in reach" of the party. As he emphasizes, Polish 2050 voters should be apologized for losing what decided on the strength of the group in 2023, erstwhile as the 3rd Road they obtained over 14 percent of the vote.
Criticism of current management
The candidate powerfully criticizes current management for moving distant from the party's programming roots. "After any time in areas that were ours, we practically ceased to exist" - says Petru, pointing to the failure of economical demands and entrepreneurship. According to newspaper.pl, the decision to run was made after it turned out that Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz received "relatually low support" in the National Council.
Petru accuses the current management of "a confrontational attitude towards coalition partners" and moving distant from the main programming topics. As reported by Wp.pl, there is simply a 30 percent probability that the Holovnia may revoke its decision if it does not receive a position in the UN structures.
Support recovery strategy
The candidate plans to recapture voters who have joined the Confederate, applying the strategy of "distinguish yourself or die". "I meet young Confederates who say they would be willing to vote for me" - admits Petru in a conversation with Gazeta.pl. In his opinion, it is crucial to return to the "expression" in economical matters and to preserve the conservative sensitivity of the party.
Onet.pl confirms that Polish MPs 2050 categorically deny rumors about possible transition to PSL or another groups. According to Rp.pl, the coalition partners have an informal agreement not to vote against each another during this word of office.
