We've already cited both candidates for our portal. We'll just remind you of the short biogram of the winners of the last election. General Petr Pavel began his service in 1983 in the Czechoslovakian People's Army, and 2 years later joined the Communist organization of Czechoslovakia. As a military, he was responsible, among another things, for electronic reconnaissance, including interception and analysis of news from the NATO Army. His political opponents mentioned it to him in the election campaign, although he himself did not hide it. In 1989, Pavel began training in military intelligence, however, he became a associate after strategy changes. After the velvet revolution until 1993, he served in the Czechoslovakian military interview. In January 1993, as a lieutenant colonel, as part of the UNPROFOR mission in the Croatian Country, he commanded a 29-man unit that rescued 53 French soldiers from Serbs commanded by Željko Ražnatović. Until his retirement, he served in the Czech army and held advanced positions within NATO. From July 2011 to June 2012, he was Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces. On 29 June 2012, president Václav Klaus appointed him Chief of Staff, which took over on 1 July 2012 and held until 30 April 2015. From 2015 to 2018, he was the head of the NATO Military Committee. He retired in 2018 and became active in political life. The candidate for president of the Czech Republic officially announced on 6 September 2022. Pavel runs the run under the heading "Let us reconstruct peace and order to the Czech Republic" ("Vraťme Česku řád a klid").
After announcing the results, it is worth recalling the “Polish thread” which changed during the campaign. During the presidential debate, the main Czech news channel ČT24 held a debate between Andrej Babiš and Petr Pavela, candidates for the office of President. Babiš admitted openly that in case of aggression against the Baltic States or Poland He wouldn't aid his allies.. Andrej Babiš's declaration will origin a media storm in the Czech Republic. This was a clear declaration that the possible president did not comply with the allied declarations. Later, a politician tried to retreat from his words. The case was besides commented by the Czech Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of abroad Affairs and the counter-candidate Petr Pavel.
During the debate, the question of how a candidate would respond to a possible attack on Poland or the Baltic countries was raised. The Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš replied:
- I'm sorry. Definitely not. Why should we have an open conflict? I want peace, I don't want a fight.
