The Warsaw Uprising Stanisław Longin Mackiewicz died nicknamed Żak (10.09.1924 – 25.06.2025) in Perth (Australia)

I regret to inform you that 25.06.2025 died in Perth, Western Australia, our Hero – last in Perth Insurgent of Warsaw Stanisław Longin Mackiewicz nicknamed Żak. The ceremony will be held on 8.07.2025 at 11 a.m. (Western Australia time) in the Polish Church in Maylands.

Stanisław Longin Mackiewicz was born on 10.09.1924 in Warsaw. Already as a 15-year-old boy scout in the Warsaw Scouting squad after the German attack on Poland in 1939, he participated in the run to observe German movements during Himmler's visit to Warsaw.

He was then sworn in in the AK and regularly prepared for the fight. In the Warsaw Uprising – (pseudonim Żak) he fought in Mokotów in the Bast Regiment in the company 0-2. He fought in Mokotów, in Midtown, through the sewers. Fighting at the post of 'Westernplatte', his brother was killed by a rocket from a tank and he was wounded by a shrapnel to the head.

After his surrender he got into a prisoner of war camp, after his liberation he went to England, where he worked as a teacher for many years. In 1983, he moved with his household to Australia. He worked in many Polish organizations.

10.09.2024 Mr. Stanislaw celebrated his 100th birthday in Perth.
