What changes in pensioner's card await seniors in 2026? Ministry proposes a fresh design
As we learn from the justification of this project, the improvement of a fresh model of legitimacy is due to the request to meet the requirements of safety against counterfeiting in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of the Interior and Administration of 1 July 2022 on the list of minimum safeguards for public papers against counterfeiting (Journal of Laws, item 1456). The fresh paper is to be a personalized recognition card measuring 85.60 mm x 53.98 mm, with rounded corners, made of PVC plastic, with a thickness of 0.76 mm and one-sided laminated (on the obverse). It will contain elements to prevent counterfeiting and forgery and the abbreviation "LER" written in Braille alphabet.
The fresh pensioner card model will apply 14 days after the publication of the Regulation. papers gathering the old guidelines may be issued to recipients until 12 July 2026. This will enable the Social Insurance Institution to usage stocks of already ordered or manufactured blanks. But what happens to specified IDs after that date?

The Regulation stresses that the credentials issued before the entry into force of the fresh model paper stay valid for the period for which they were initially issued. This means that pensioners and pensioners do not gotta worry about early exchange of documents. The impact assessment indicated that the changes would include around 8.1 million seniors. MRPiPS has calculated that the cost of producing pensioner's card in the fresh version will be around PLN 2.24, while it is presently about PLN 1.05. In the first year this will translate into an increase in spending for ZUS by over PLN 332,000. In the following years, this amount is expected to increase. The difference in spending over 10 years was estimated at almost PLN 4.6 million.
