In fresh days, Pegasus has returned to the headlines. Tuesday's proceeding of CBA chief Agnieszka Kwiatkowska-Gurdak before the Pegasus committee sparked considerable controversy. Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the MON Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the Prime Minister was waiting for urgent explanations on this matter.

Hearing of the CBA chief

During the open part of the hearing, head of CBA Agnieszka Kwiatkowska-Gurdak repeatedly refused to supply information, citing the mystery of operational work and the secret of the prosecution's investigations. Vice-President of the Commission Marcin Bosacki (KO) assessed that Kwiatkowska-Gurdak interpreted her right besides widely to not inform the committee about the cognition she has. This caused the committee to neglect to get applicable information on Pegasus.

Minister of peculiar Services coordinator Tomasz Siemoniak confirmed that he is urgently to study to the Prime Minister on the yearly word of office management by his current head.

Further consequences

When asked about the future of the CBA chief, Minister Tomasz Siemoniak replied that "any decisions will be made on Thursday" after his return from an authoritative visit to Sweden. This means that we can anticipate further improvement in the coming days. As announced by the head of the Ministry of abroad Affairs, the key decisions on Pegasus are due to be taken on Thursday.

Background

Pegasus is simply a spy program that was utilized to monitor Polish politicians, journalists and judges. The Pegasus case broke out in July 2022 erstwhile Gazeta Wyborcza portal revealed that the Polish peculiar service was utilizing this program for surveillance. Since then, there has been a search for the guilty and an effort to explain the case.

Security expert Dr. Paweł Makulski said that the Pegasus case was "the most serious safety crisis in Poland for many years". He added that "it is essential to full explain the substance and to hold the guilty responsible". In turn, the lawyer, Mr Marcin Kędzior, stated that "the Pegasus case is an example of a violation of the right to privacy and freedom of speech".

Further questions

Unfortunately, the Pegasus case inactive raises more questions than answers. Will CBA chief Agnieszka Kwiatkowska-Gurdak lose his position? Will the Pegasus Committee be able to get all the essential information? Will the alleged traitors who utilized the spy program be held accountable? We will gotta wait for these questions until Thursday, erstwhile ministers will study to the Prime Minister on the yearly word of office management by his current head.
