In December 2022, the nipponese Ministry of Defence concluded an agreement with Patria Group to supply 140 wheeled AMV XP armored transporters. A full of 810 vehicles of this kind are planned to be purchased, which will gradually displace older nipponese wheeled armored transporters 8x8 - kind 96. The plan now predicts that in September 2025 the installation of AMV XP in Japan will begin at Japan Steel Works. In parallel, a network of local sub-suppliers is to be created, which besides provides for a licensing agreement allowing the usage of locally produced parts in Japanese-produced vehicles. Patria is expected to support this network with her expertise.
