The European Parliament will decide on the immunity of Grzegorz Braun

The Minister of Justice and the lawyer General, Adam Bodnar, requested the European Parliament to waive immunity for Euro MP Grzegorz Braun. The case concerns the controversial actions of the Confederate Member, including the extinguishing of the Khanu candlestick in the Sejm.

In December last year, Grzegorz Braun caused a stir by extinguishing Khanuk candles in the Sejm. The incidental has provoked accusations of spiritual insult. In January, the Sejm waived Braun's immunity, allowing him to be brought to trial. shortly after, however, Braun won a mandate for the European Parliament, which provided him with fresh immunity.

Adam Bodnar in a conversation with the Virtual portal Poland stressed that the waiver of immunity is essential to resolve any formal doubts. "We felt that in this situation it was inactive essential to ask the European Parliament to agree to repeal the immunity so that there were no formal doubts," Bodnar explained. The proposal to the European Parliament is intended to enable the Polish judiciary to take further action on this matter.

Other Complaints Against Grzegorz Braun

The allegations concerning Grzegorz Braun do not end with an incidental in the Sejm. The prosecution besides accuses him of blocking the lecture on the Holocaust at the German Historical Institute and of destroying the Christmas tree in the court in Krakow. Another allegation relates to the violation of the physical integrity of the erstwhile Minister of Health, Łukasz Szumowski, and to his speech utilizing mass communication.

Adam Bodnar's request to waive immunity is intended to enable Polish services to bring Braun to justice for a number of actions which have sparked many controversy both in Poland and abroad.
