Since February 2025 parking in Gdańsk will be more expensive. Aleksandra Dulkiewicz plans to rise the fees for the stop. The city authorities argue that a price change is essential to improve the rotation of parking spaces. Increases, although justified by inflation and increased surviving costs, make controversy among residents and entrepreneurs.

The proposal for increases assumes an increase in one-off charges in the Pay Parking Area (SPP) and the Mid-Wednesday Paid Parking region (SSP) by an average of 30%. For example, for the first hr in the SPP drivers will pay PLN 5 alternatively of the current PLN 3.90. In the SSP, the rate will emergence from PLN 5.50 to PLN 7.50.

There are besides changes in subscriptions. Residents with a second vehicle will gotta pay as much as 260 PLN per period and for the 3rd – 3120 PLN per year. By comparison, the current fees were PLN 10 per period and PLN 120 per year respectively. The increases will besides affect entrepreneurs – the monthly subscription in the SPP will increase from PLN 550 to PLN 715, and in the SPP up to PLN 1040.

Parking fees are a tool to regulate rotation. The increase in infrastructure maintenance costs makes it essential to adjust rates.
Discounts for selected, fresh fees for the rest
New is the offer for holders of the Gdańsk Residential Charter. Each active card owner will be able to usage erstwhile a day the first hr of halt at the current price. However, this is simply a tiny consolation to the general increases.
In addition, a minimum parking fee of PLN 1 will be introduced. The punishment for the deficiency of a ticket will increase from PLN 200 to PLN 300, which will further burden drivers. The discount for regulating the punishment in 14 days will besides increase, from PLN 130 to PLN 170.

Will higher fees solve parking problems?
The change in price list is intended to improve the availability of parking places in the city center. Critics, however, indicate that increases can discourage the usage of cars, but at the same time they will not bring real benefits to residents. Many of them note that higher fees are primarily an additional financial burden.
The city authorities declare that increases are essential to keep public transport competitiveness and improve the efficiency of the parking system. However, if the inhabitants accept these changes, we will find out after February 2025.
