[As reported by Politico](https://www.politico.eu/article/germany-france-clash-us-weapon-90-billion-loan-ukraine/), Germany and the Netherlands are opposing a French proposal that would like to limit Ukraine's ability to acquisition U.S. arms from the EU's €90 billion loan. According to Paris, the money should go mainly to European arms companies to strengthen the European Union's defence industry. German and Dutch politicians, on the another hand, believe that Ukraine should have more freedom to spend money on defense, including buying equipment from outside the EU, if essential to defend itself against Russia. They stress that Ukraine urgently needs US-made air defence systems and munitions.
