Parents request silence and closeness after losing a child

In the advanced Silesian Children's wellness Centre in Katowice there was a space where parents can say goodbye to their dead newborns in peace, silence and dignity.

A recently opened area for parents after the failure of the kid is located at the Department of Neonatology and Intensive Therapy of the Newborn. It is simply a place that gives you the chance to experience mourning distant from the infirmary sound – in silence, with space for conversation, prayer and goodbye.

As the specialist says, earlier specified moments had to take place in the ICU – among medical equipment and the sounds of the hospital.

"After 1 peculiarly hard situation, I thought that this could not be the case. That's erstwhile I realized we needed a separate location. Peaceful, close to intensive care rooms where parents can truly be alone," says Agnieszka Kuc.

After a fewer months of investigation and preparation, we managed to make a space that present serves not only in the moments of farewell, but besides as a place of conversation with doctors and psychologists.

"This is simply a space for meetings – sometimes hard but besides emotionally saving. Parents can stay here, cool off after talking to a doctor, be together erstwhile the kid is in a bad condition," the scientist explains.

Agnieszka Kuc emphasizes that her work frequently starts in the first hours after the baby was admitted to the ward.

"This is simply a minute of shock and terror. Parents hear hard diagnoses, face powerlessness and fear. I'm trying to aid them call these emotions and show that they are not alone in this”

The John Paul II Children's wellness Centre in Katowice is 1 of the largest pediatric hospitals in Poland. all year, respective 1000 tiny patients are taken care of, and now, thanks to the fresh initiative, their parents besides in the moments of top suffering.
